The word ‘turquoise’

So it just dawned on me that the word ‘turquoise’ could have some relation to ‘Turkey’ since the first part of the words sounds the same. Turns out I was right! It’s an old French word meaning ‘Turkish stone’, or pierre turquoise and though it’s not from Turkey, most likely Iran I read, It got its name from being traded at Turkish bizarres. I’m a genius. Annnd since it’s my favorite color, I should know its origins. ^^

Here’s a link about it. 🙂
